Of all the paths (actor, director, musician) he might have pursued in life, Guy Davis has dedicated himself to reviving and sharing the traditions of acoustic blues. Whether he is appearing on Late Night With Conan O'Brien, A Prairie Home Campanion, Mountain Stage, in front of 15,000 people at a festival, or teaching an intimate gathering of students, Guy gives his audience his "all." He combines classics of the genre (Skip James, Blind Willie McTell, Elizabeth Cotton) with African American stories, and his own original songs and performance pieces. Like the best of the old-time players, Guy is at heart a storytellera master of transporting his audience to a creaking front porch as he stomps his way through songs ranging from soulful and moaning to playful and bouncy. He accompanies himself on guitar, mandolin, banjo, and accordion.
Moonshine Holler is an old-timey duo from Western Massachusetts featuring the superb multi-instrumental talents of folk veterans Paula Bradley and Bill Dillof. They capture the essence of American music with hillbilly blues, ballads, and barn-burning breakdowns.
