LIZEA HARPER
With resilient roots of overcoming physical, mental and financial adversities and engaging in subsequent activist work, Lizea Harper has transformed her experiences into Dive, a refreshing hip hop album, with raw authenticity. The message manifests itself in melodic spoken word as a conscious journey of elation and injury. Lizea strives to channel her passion for social justice issues into the foundation of every piece, and she uses this groundwork as a basis for healing, awareness and action.
DUA
Dua is a multidisciplinary performing artist based in Minneapolis. Using diverse afro-diasporic influences, the work produced by this artist provides audiences with ripe and unrefined emotions. Dua has gained regional recognition for song writing and spoken word. This has landed the artist the 2017 VERVE Grant for spoken word and readings at places like the Cedar Cultural Center, Lowertown Reading Jam, Button Poetry, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and more. Recently the artist has also received a role as a primary character in Sweetness of Wild a Free Black Dirt Production.
MARIAH MERCEDES
Mariah Mercedes is a Pop/R&B singer and songwriter from the Twin Cities. Her vocal croons are comparable to the likes of Norah Jones, Feist, and Emily King. Mercedes' tunes explore coming of age themes delivered with smooth grooves and a perpetual smirk. At 21, she is beginning to find her sound by combining traces of R&B and neo-soul with her singer-songwriter roots. A Berklee College of Music dropout, Mariah has high hopes in returning to MN to start her solo career with her summer release, Following a Tangled Thread EP.
