For Capital District folk music fans, this band hardly needs an introduction. They've been a mainstay at contra dances, parties, weddings and festivals ever since they first formed in Albany in 1970. Featuring Bill Spence on hammered dulcimer, Toby Stover on piano, and George Wilson on fiddle, they were among the first folk bands to make records featuring hammered dulcimer and, as such, ignited a revival of interest in the instrument.
Throughout their first couple decades they traveled far and wide, appearing on the mainstage at Philadelphia Folk Festival, Mariposa, and of course Old Songs and Fox Hollow festivals. Oddly--shockingly, actually--they just joined Caffe Lena's roster in 2016! We had a blast at their first show, and look forward to another evening of their happy, traditional American music.
