Broadway actor, director, writer and celebrated country blues musician Guy Davis grew up in a Civil Rights household where being an artist and a concerned member of society were equally important, and art was not separate from real life. Davis has dedicated himself to reviving and sharing the traditions of acoustic blues. Whether he is appearing on Late Night With Conan O'Brien, A Prairie Home Campanion, Mountain Stage, in front of 15,000 people at a festival, or teaching an intimate gathering of students, Guy gives his audience his all. He combines classics of the genre (Skip James, Blind Willie McTell, Elizabeth Cotton) with African American stories, and his own original songs and performance pieces. He's a master of transporting his audience to a creaking front porch as he stomps his way through songs ranging from soulful and moaning to playful and bouncy. He accompanies himself on guitar, mandolin, banjo, and accordion.
