Tobacco land, North Carolina: A boy with a guitar, trapped in time, lurks near the abandoned railway tracks, waiting for a glimpse of an infamous ghost train- the legend of the Maco Lights. 50 years earlier, the white son of a tobacco magnate woos Mattie, his father's beautiful young black receptionist. A play about money and power, love and ghosts, with music.
About our production: SUPERWOLF is dedicated to creating work in which the location is always a character. The setting for our performances is always either informed by the writing, or vice-versa. We're presenting the play at The Invisible Dog Art Center, a turn-of-the-century factory, turned interdisciplinary art space. In-keeping with The Invisible Dog's mission to foster local artists, and create a broadening artistic community, SUPERWOLF will create a unique, intimate theatrical event. Bespoke lighting instruments and seating created by local artists will serve as both scenic elements and original art available for purchase after the show. And just like The Invisible Dog, all proceeds from the art will go directly to the artists.
The show is under 90 minutes. You are welcome to linger afterwards, as each night will include a concert with a different musical guest, and a chance for the audience to explore the performance space as a gallery and meeting-place.
