The program dives into the topic of beauty, ranging from scientific evidence that suggests there is a common standard of beauty that transcends cultures and ethnicities to personal stories about beauty. New works by Artistic Director Donna Sternberg include "The Back of Beauty" inspired by an image from the movie "Snow White and the Huntsman" as well as a light-hearted look at prettiness. Guest choreographer Anandha Ray has created "Inhale" a new work that burrows into the desires that reside in the deep nameless places of our beings. Also to be performed is a section from the company's full-length work "The Flowering of Desire" entitled "Parasites", which looks at desire from the plant's point of view and the intersection between plant and human desires. The program will include an informal discussion of how scientific theories of beauty and desire were used to inform and inspire the choreography.
