Kaspar Hauser
The Open Secret of the Foundling Prince

WHEN: November 2nd at 7:30PM, Old Town Hall, 61 Main Street, Ottawa

A true story of an innocent boy imprisoned in a dark cell for most of his childhood.
Told by actor and storyteller Glen Williamson.

In a journey through darkness to light, this tale explores what it means to be human.
Created as an epic fairytale with historical interludes, this story includes inspiring spiritual pictures as well as the latest scientific research about one of 19th Century Europe's most compelling figures.

(Two hours with an intermission.)

BACKGROUND: Two hundred years ago this autumn, a child was born in Southern Germany who would grow up to become one of 19th-century Europe's most enigmatic and compelling figures. At the age of 16, this strange boy appeared on the streets of Nuremburg, barely able to stand, walk or speak. In Kaspar Hauser: The Open Secret of the Foundling Prince, historical facts and characters mix with a supernatural tale of a golden house, a wicked stepmother, and a boy kept in a dark cellar for most of his childhood. Who was he? And why does his story still affect us?

PERFORMANCE: Through drama and masterful storytelling, award-winning New York actor Glen Williamson has created an epic fairytale with historical interludes, including esoteric interpretations as well as the latest scientific research about Kaspar Hauser. This performance is part of a tour this fall of the UK, Ireland, the US, and Canada, as well as a special performance in Basel, Switzerland at an international conference on Kaspar Hauser. The solo production comes to Ottawa on November 2nd for one performance only.  The performance runs 2 hours with an intermission.
