TREVOR JAMES AMERICANA REBEL
Pulling the roots of country music then mixing punk, rockabilly, bluegrass and New Americana together creating a familiar but unique sound. It holds the high lonesome sound we've heard from Hank and Cash but with a nitty gritty edge. Singer/songwriter Trevor James holds no shame for what he says in his songs. He tells it the way it is. Raised in Minnesota but born in Florida he holds southern charm and Midwest nice with open arms. Thanks to his mother Linnea Marrin who was the church music director, Trevor was surrounded by music at an early age. Eventually he would make his own tunes with his own lyrics. Trevor's songs hold nothing back from life experiences. He sings from the heart be it love lost or love gained, regret and the good times. He finds the upside to remind us that the sun still shines. He takes country routes and crosses the road creating an edge to his sound which makes him an Americana Rebel.
THE MAY NORTH
Theres a restless spirit flowing through the North Country thats hard to define, and sometimes a good song is the only way to put it into proper perspective. The May North has a rare knack for doing just thatmaking sense of love, loss, long winters, longer highways and the shifting lines between urban and country living. With a sound thats part folk, part bluegrass and a bit of breakneck blues, The May North pays tribute to these forms while carving its own path. The band is careful not to define themselves as strictly bluegrass as the music finds its influences, lyrics, and keys deviate away from the norms of the genre. However, they do employ the time-honored instruments of acoustic guitar, upright bass, dobro and fiddle to create an earthy and intricately-woven soundscape. With evocative ballads and hard-driving foot-stompers, their engaging songs bring live audiences from quiet reflection to howling jubilation within the course of an evening. This is bluegrass without boundaries, folk without pretense, honest storytelling without apology.
