Efrat Ben Zur: One singer, Two Poets
Fresh from her premier at Filter Magazine's Cultures Collide Festival in Los Angeles, BJMF is proud to present the area debut of Israeli singer/songwriter/actress Efrat Ben Zur. Efrat Ben Zur, the acclaimed Israeli singer and actress, released her debut album "Diving" in 2001 and her second album "Efrat Ben Zur" in 2006; both albums received enthusiastic reviews. Ben Zur's new album "Robin" was released at the end of March and it's emerging as one of the most impressive works of the year. It's a collection of Emily Dickinson's poems composed by Ben Zur. The result is songs blessed with her magical touch which take you on a sorceress journey. She will be performing these songs as well as others based on the poetry of Leah Goldberg in Boston. Along with her music career, Efrat is a leading actress in the "Gesher Theatre" and has appeared in various films and hit TV series such as "Pillars of Smoke" & "Parashat Hashavu'a".
Presented in cooperation with the Israeli Consulate,
Here's what reviewers are saying: "After being known to have such an extraordinary voice in the local scene, Efrat Ben Zur reminds us of singers such as Sharon Van Etten & PJ Harvey following her two last albums, which include a hand harp, her Victorian darkness & old folk songs which she revived" (TimeOut). "It's Difficult to remain indifferent to this album, it's generally one of the best I've ever heardeach of the songs production & composition have the right connection and are defined as individual worlds " (Calcalist, Yedioth Aharonot) "Ben Zur is without a doubt, one of the most fascinating & unique artists in the local scene she demonstrates her diverse vocals, which make Dickinson's poems fresh and whole"(MusicNeto).
