ADA Program for CAB Licensure
Accessibility: Path of Travel
Presented by: Michael Chambers, FAIA, FCSI, CCS AIA/CES (HSW) Learning Units: 5 Hours
This program examines path of travel and accessible route as the connecting matrix of a site or building in order to be accessible in terms of movement and access. The course explores the differences between how the accessible route is configured in the 2010 ADA Standards and the California Building Code (CBC) Chapter 11B and illustrates how, in the end, both standards are clearly focused on getting disabled individuals access to building elements and services they require as safely and easily as possible. The course also explores the critical aspects of construction documents and specifications as they pertain to accessibility. Other issues will be added to this course as they are approved by the presenter and AIA National to meet the full five hours needed by attendees. This course complies with California licensure requirements regarding accessibility and provides essential information about accessibility requirements applicable in most states. One class that will fulfill all 5 hours of your California SB1608 license requirements.
