Cooking is a skill that can open up a new world of techniques, flavors and discoveries. This series of hands-on classes is designed to build skills and confidence for cooks who are new to or tentative in the kitchen.
You will master the techniques and recipes and be inspired to adapt them for seasonality, personal preference and to explore your own creativity. We'll cover knife skills, proper seasoning, cooking with high heat, sanitation and safety, roasting, baking, grilling, braising and more!
After each class we will enjoy what we've created together.
Saturday, January 28 Knife Skills Stir Fry Seasoning We'll make salad, salsa and stir-fry, practicing knife skills for cutting vegetables, cooking with high heat, and the art of proper seasoning. Saturday, February 4 Roasting Baking Sautéeing We'll make roast chicken with pan gravy, sauteed greens and buttermilk biscuits. Saturday, February 11 Grilling Braising Flavor Development We'll make French onion soup, the perfect grilled steak, green beans with almonds and brown butter and perfect mashed potatoes. This is a hands-on series of 3 cooking classes. Snacks will be served and students will be able to enjoy what they have cooked at the end of each class.
