ABOUT THE SHOW:
The Bushwick Book Club Seattle and Jack Straw Cultural Center presents original music inspired by the Jack Straw Writers Anthology 2016. Each year, Seattles Jack Straw Writers Program provides a platform for local authors to hone their presentation skills, create new work, and expand their audience. This will be the fourth year that Jack Straw has teamed up with the Bushwick Book Club Seattle to pair writers from the anthology with Bushwick musicians and songwriters for a special event of local live music and words. Before the show, the musicians have the opportunity to work with the writers on creating a song inspired by the writers anthology piece. Special for this event, we will have the full length album available to you. Weve been working hard in the Jack Straw studios to bring a vibrant collection of music inspired by words.
The Bushwick Book Club Seattle is not your run of the mill book club. Much like any, we act upon the urge to read and to have discussions about what we read. But we found that this was not enough for us. When we read books, we also want to write songs about them. And when we write songs, we like to perform them for an audience. Our mission is to deliver literature, music, and songwriting to the Seattle community while building the next generation of musicians and readers.
