SOLO TU
Teatro Luna takes the monologue form and kicks it up a notch, using our trademark irreverence to explore the one thing all women either fear or desire: pregnancy. From one young woman's encounter with a pro-life protest before an abortion to the way a mouse infestation threatens another woman's vision of perfect motherhood, SOLO Tu presents four autobiographical looks at the joys and misconceptions of Latina motherhood. Drawing on the legend of La Llorona/the Weeping Woman (a mythical Mexican figure eternally searching for her lost children), Solo Tu features an original score and dark lullabies by William Kurk and Tanya Saracho, to create a haunting picture of the ways that childhood dreams of motherhood sometimes go awry.
Four Teatro Luna favorite performers, Yadira Correa (Machos, Lunaticas) Dana Cruz (S-e-x-Oh!, Men of Steel.), Miranda Gonzalez (S-e-x-Oh!, Lunaticas) and Suzette Mayobre (Sonia Flew-U/S, Lunaticas) along with singer/poet Marie Antoinette Flores.
