True Colors: OUT Youth Theater was founded in 1994 with funding from the Department of Education's Safe Schools Program for Gay and Lesbian Students. True Colors is one of the nation's only touring theater programs for LGBT youth and their allies, ages 14-22 in Dorchester, South End, Roxbury, and Jamaica Plain. Many of these youth are either homeless or living in foster homes; and some are Department of Children and Families' clients. The Theater Offensive have made changing destructive behavior of bigotry, discrimination, and violence our life's work. Every day, we go right into the neighborhoods and schools to do something about it. True Colors creates a safe haven where LGBT youth and their allies are supported and challenged to engage fully in their personal, social, and artistic development.
