ANDY CALHOUN

If you want to watch someone having the time of his life on stage, then Andy Calhoun is your guy.  Laughing, dancing, and belting his way through each and every show, Andy Calhoun & The Outlaws have become a country force to be reckoned with.  This Texas boy comes ready to party!

Andy always believed that theres a lot more to country music than just singing the words and playing the music. I learned that growing up going to as many shows as I could while the rodeo was in town in Houston, listening to people like George Strait and Brooks & Dunn, and being amazed by how Travis Tritt put that drive in his country.  Their music spoke to me in ways I wouldnt understand until I was older in Minnesota, watching Brad Paisley, Faith Hill, and Toby Keith.  I never wanted to be them, but I wanted to be like them  to be able to deliver a song in a way all my own that made people understand something about me or something about themselves that they never thought they would.  I have never been afraid of hard work, and I have worked very hard to bring my own kind of country music to the stage.  It took living through some pretty nasty stuff, along with many good times, for me to finally understand how to bring all of those feelings to my music.  Now I want to share it with you.

From The Fine Line to Mystic Lake Casino to a host of summer festivals, Andy, both solo and with Andy Calhoun & The Outlaws, plays about 100 shows each year anywhere and everywhere within a few hundred miles of Minneapolis.

Now, for one night only at The Icehouse, Andy Calhoun (of Andy Calhoun & The Outlaws) unplugs and, teaming with guitar picker extraordinaire Danny Neale, presents an evening of laid back, tap your feet and sing along music, mixing his own brand of country, folk, rock and pop.

Danny Neale is a guitarist who moves easily from blues and country to pop, jazz, and rock. Fingerpicking, flatpicking -- he's got it covered. Back when he was a high school kid in Chattanooga, he began to think about a career in music after learning early Dylan and Hendrix tunes playing in his brothers group and in the school band program. A slew of bar bands, playing gigs on the beer and sofa circuit down south -- coupled with a full time stint in an aptly named country rock group called Rawhide -- turned Neale into a self-styled riff slinger. Capable of moving from the tasty and more sophisticated guitar work of virtuosos like Frank Zappa, Steely Dans Walter Becker and Duane Allman, Neale can kick back into a laid-back country rock posture as easily as Joe Walsh did in the Eagles, or lay down a slide guitar groove a la Elmore James without breaking a sweat. In 1986, he left Tennessee for Minnesota after meeting his wife in Fargo ("I married a woman who hates hot weather"). He has worked with Martin Zellar, Bobby Vee, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry and a host of others. Recently, he has pleased audiences around the country as the guitar force behind The Gallactic Cowboy Orchestra.
