Abbey Arts presents CATHEDRALS XIV featuring Noah Gundersen with Courtney Marie Andrews, Silver Torches November 4, 2016. 8:00 show
Tickets: $14 student advance, $16 general advance - SOLD OUT $20 day of show (all)
8:00 show start - Silver Torches opens the show with a short set, followed by Courtney Marie Andrews, an intermission and finally Noah Gundersen will take the stage around 9 or 9:15pm.
Note: Doors may open for ticket holders early if possible. We are aiming for 6:30pm to open the lobby/bar.

All shows are all ages, mostly seated. Bar w/ ID in lobby featuring local Seattle Cider, Wilridge Winery and more.
Quiet picnics, blankets, pillows, cushions are welcome where space allows up front and on the sides. Due to the capacity of this show, attendees on the floor may need to sit to allow space for other guests. Benches and chairs are also provided, some standing room in back.
This is the 14th concert in our CATHEDRALS series presenting local & touring indie bands in epic spaces like St Mark's Cathedral.

The bar at this show is a fundraiser event for the Greening the Abbey Project, managed by Fremont Abbey building owners, Church of the Apostles to lower our carbon footprint and make the building more accessible to all.
About the artists:
NOAH GUNDERSEN: "For Noah Gundersen, the past few years have brought about immense growth and change, both as an artist and as a young man grappling with issues of identity and independence. It should come as little surprise, then, that his stunning new album, Carry The Ghost, is so heavily influenced by existential philosophy. Whats so striking, though, is hearing a 25-year-old articulate such weighty themes, packaging them into heartbreakingly gorgeous melodies with a plainspoken language that cuts to the quick upon first listen. Then again, Noah Gundersen has never aimed for ordinary.
With Carry The Ghost, Gundersen once again looked inward to find inspiration. This album grew out of a desire to know myself, to know how I was supposed to live, he explains. And in that process, I realized that maybe there is no supposed to be. The concept of Carry The Ghost is that were made by our experiences and to accept that instead of fighting it. The last several years have been a process of accepting things as they are and to not see them as so black and white or right or wrong, to accept that were not made to be a certain way, but that we are involved in an ongoing process of becoming.
COURTNEY MARIE ANDREWS: At just 16 years old, Courtney Marie Andrews left home in Arizona for her first tour. She traveled up and down the West Coast, busking and playing any bars or cafés that would have her. Soon after, she took a Greyhound bus four nights straight from Phoenix to New York to do the same on the East Coast. For a decade or so since, Courtneys been a session and backup singer and guitarist for nearly 40 artists, from Jimmy Eat World to Damien Jurado. She never stopped writing her own material, though. Picking up admirers like Jurado and Ryan Adams along the way, she has quietly earned a reputation as a songwriters songwriter.
With plans to settle down for a bit and focus on her own songs, Courtney moved to the Northwest in 2011 to record her last full-length record On My Page. However, the record had hardly been released before she was on the road again performing other artists songs, eventually leading her overseas to play guitar and sing with Belgian star Milow. At the tours end, though, the other session players joined her to record her 2014 EP Leuven Letters in one take.
It was during this time that Courtney also wrote many of the songs on Honest Life. She found herself realizing the impact of growing up on the road and this constant reconciling between her and others art and identity.

IMPORTANT & UNUSUAL EVENT DETAILS:
SEATING: To create a "giant living room" effect we offer an unusual concert experience with informal seating on the floor up front surrounding the stage and lots of pews, benches, and chairs around the space.
We highly recommend you bring blankets and cushions to create a more comfortable experience whether sitting on the floor or seats. Quiet and non-messy snacks/picnics are allowed. No outside alcohol please.
SILENCE: Please actually silence all devices. Turn off vibrate, rings, etc. No audible cameras or devices (no shutters).
Anyone exhibiting loud or disruptive behavior during the event will be asked to leave.
Absolutely no talking during the performances is allowed as this room is very live acoustically. We are unable to provide a separate room for viewing this event if you are unable to be silent during the performance. Please plan accordingly before purchasing tickets. No cry room available at this venue.
Even voices in the lobby may be heard in the concert space so please enter quietly after 8pm.
Late arrivals will be let into the concert space in between songs.
