GROSS INDECENCY: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde
LOVE, ART, LUST, IDENTITY, MAN: all put on trial, history forever changed.
Composed entirely of court records, memoirs, and other first-hand accounts of the 1895 homosexuality trials of Oscar Wilde, 'GROSS INDECENCY' is a gripping piece of documentary theatre that examines the very origins of the gay identity, how it intersects with art, and how this relationship has affected social history and the search for identity instead of 'otherness' over the past century. This bold new staging seeks to find a connection between Wilde's story and the modern struggle to discover if 'man' and 'homosexual' are terms of mutual exclusivity, and if these societal structures will ever collapse.
