Saori Chiba is a native of Tokyo, Japan. The brilliant Japanese pianist...... according to the Chicago Daily Herald ...... is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades for her superb keyboard artistry. Of her five current recordings, two have captured the Daily Heralds coveted TOP TEN CLASSICAL CDs OF THE YEAR AWARD and one was selected to the GRAMMY AWARD Entry List category for BEST CHAMBER MUSIC PERFORMANCE . Ms. Chibas CDs are regularly featured on nationally prominent FM radio stations WFMT, WFIU, KING, KUAT, etc. Her vocal master class credentials include associations with Dalton Baldwin, Martin Katz, David Schrader, Denyce Graves, Joyce DiDonato and Samuel Ramey. Of late, Ms. Chiba has collaborated with Ravinia Festival conductor Maestro Christoph Eschenbach and globally recognized violinist Nadja Salerno- Sonnenberg. She also recently appeared on many other prestigious chamber music programs, such as the Dame Myra Hess Concerts and the PianoForte Salon Series . Highly sought after as an accompanist, Ms. Saori Chiba frequently assists with Chicago Opera Theater and Opera Santa Barbara.
Chicago pianist and conductor Michael McElvain has been heard on WFMT radio broadcasts, including a live, month-long cycle of the complete piano sonatas of Beethoven, the WFMT Membership Drive , and contemporary music program, Relevant Tones . As a soloist and collaborative artist, he has performed in masterclasses for Leon Fleisher, Emanuel Ax, Martin Katz, and David Daniels. Beyond classical music, he has toured Europe as keyboardist for celebrated progressive rock group, Pavlov's Dog. Recently, Mr. McElvain led The Metropolitan Orchestra of St. Louis in a performance of Schubert's Unfinished Symphony . He has served as Chorus Master for The Chicago Bach Ensemble, and provided music direction for several stage productions, including CUBE Ensemble's first-ever opera, as well as musical theatre works by Stephen Sondheim. Presently, Mr. McElvain serves as an adjunct faculty member of DePaul University School of Music, Chicago
