Quickstep celebrates the release of a new album, Ducks on the Pond, a collection of old-time songs and tunes with great arrangements using fiddles, guitars, banjo, mandolin, bass and warm, clear vocals. This local trio likes to mix it up with Celtic, early country, originals and clogging. John Kirk and Trish Miller have toured all over the world, from Carnegie Hall to the Academy of Culture in St. Petersburg, Russia--with stops at town squares, barn dances, elementary schools and coffeehouses all along the way. John contributes a classically trained voice, delightful sense of humor and fiery fiddling. Trish is a celebrated percussive dancer and banjo player. The husband and wife duo will be joined by Ed Lowman on bass, fiddle & vocals. Opener The Ladles is a trio of recent graduates of the New England Conservatory of Music. Featuring splendid three-part vocal harmony, fiddle, banjo, guitar and a contemporary folk sound, the Ladles are Katie Martucci, Caroline Kuhn, and Lucia Purpura-Pontoniere.
