Ask anyone who follows the indie folk scene and they'll tell you that Canada has fostered a wonderful batch of folksingers. Marked by fascinating storylines, clear expression and pleasing melodies, tonight we pair two of our favorites. Dave Gunning of Nova Scotia utterly charms audiences wherever he goes with his bashful rural humor, stellar guitar playing, and songs of everyday people who you could swear are your relatives. With melodies that hint at the British Isles, Dave's songs will put a smile on your face, a tear in your eye, and leave you feeling like it's pretty cool to be a human being. Heard on NPR, CBC, BBC and various satellite radio stations, Jory Nash's acoustic guitar, piano, banjo and warm, unique voice pulls you into his captivating lyrics and intricate melodies. Blending folk, jazz, blues, pop & soul into an original stew of sound, he has recorded 8 critically acclaimed albums and received acclaim from Canada's most respected journalists.
The Young Novelists, winners of the New/Emerging Artist of the Year award at the 2015 Canadian Folk Music Awards, open the evening with rustic themes and daring arrangements.
