Winterpills with Arc Iris
SPECIAL CD RELEASE CONCERT
Since their first album in 2005, Winterpills have been tugging on ears with their fragile-but-dangerous chamber-pop songs that The Washington Post called densely packed but hugely evocative, tiny bombs of feeling and meaningfiendishly melodic.
Based out of Northampton, this five-piece band is defined by the calling cards of the male-female harmonies of Philip Price and Flora Reed to go with the bands melancholic folk pop sound. Winterpills are consummate masters of the slow burn; theyve nurtured a singular aesthetic with lush and sometimes gritty instrumentation, emotive and literate lyrics, sublime vocal harmonies, and cinematically structured songs that stealthily pull you in and then destroy you.
This concert celebrates the release of Winterpills 7th album, Love Songs (Signature Sounds), a provocative entry in its catalog.
Special Guest, Arc Iris, crystallizes the evolution of composer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist Jocie Adams, a former core member of renowned indie-folk band, The Low Anthem. Embracing her new role as auteur, Adams has created a genre-bending style that often shifts between cabaret-infused jazz, orchestral sophistication, grimy outlaw country, delicate and whimsical harmonies, and big-band exhilaration sometimes all in the same song. $12 advance / $15 door www.brightandlyon.com
Please note that tickets are non-refundable, but can be exchanged for a future event if needed.
