Hello Red Clay Dance Fans! Online ticket sales have ended for the Saturday night showing of "Written on the Flesh" but tickets are available for purchase at the door. Cash or credit is accepted. The box office opens at 6:30pm. Seating begins at 7:00pm. This performance is general admission. Join Red Clay Dance Company for the World Premiere of "Written on the Flesh, a highly charged dance work that tackles the question, what is the residue of elegant racism and how is it written on the flesh? The work explores themes of identity, systematic racial inequity, and the history of mass violence perpetuated against black bodies in this country.  The ensemble of 8 women take you on a journey, in search of the honesty, resilance, forgiveness, and love that is needed begin anew and create a society where true equality exists for all Americans?

Chicago's premier Afro-Contemporary dance company, Red Clay Dance wraps up its 8th season with a World Premiere of Written on the flesh, Artistic Director Vershawn Wards newest choreographic work.  Performances are both Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm at the historic DuSable Museum of African American History. The Friday night performance features a post-show discussion with Director Vershawn Ward and company, moderated by tenured Columbia College Chicago faculty member Raquel Monroe. The Saturday night performance is our Paint the Town Red Gala which includes a ticket to the performance and the VIP Post-show party! Come dance the night away to the sounds of DJ Nick Nonstop, great food and drinks! Gala tickets are $65/person and a limited number are still available.


Red Clay Dance continues to bring an innovative intersection of connecting the community and the arts to Chicago audiences.  "Written on the Flesh" is a highly charged dance work that tackles the question, what is the residue of elegant racism and how is it written on the flesh? Can we ever create a society where true equity exists for all Americans?
