RESONATE: not your classic classical concert. Composers from the past 350 years.
*TICKETS AT THE DOOR TONIGHT*
Not your classic classical concert. Local composers and musicians. Curated by Sam Anderson (Hey Marseilles).
This program includes performances by the Passenger String Quartet, TRIO MIO, The Anderson String Quartet, and a dance performance from Victoria McConell set to an original composition for string quartet by electronic artist Tito Ramsey. Other performances include a live debut of an instrumental number from Hey Marseilles, solo performances from numerous musicians, and Kyle O'Quinn and Sam Anderson performing one of Beethoven's finest piano and cello sonatas. The composers featured in this concert span a time period of about 350 years. This is not your classic classical concert."
"The word "resonate" has a dual meaning: It describes the effect of resonance in a physical sense, for example, reverb and echo, and also describes the evocation of memories, feelings, and images. This concert is built on the ideas behind both of those definitions.
Against a traditional classical backdrop, the program for Resonate stands out for its diversity of styles and eras. Also, the inclusion of young performers and a certain irreverence toward the performance aspect and other confines of the art is completely out of line with a traditionalist's notion of a classical music concert.
