The name "Epstein, Lowman & Weinstein" might make you think we hired a law firm, but boy can these guys pick! Hailing from rural Washington county, Epstein, Lowman and Weinstein is a bluegrass and old time string band with a happy attitude and decades of individual experience.
Alan Epstein is well known in the regional bluegrass scene for leading monthly jams at Caffe Lena and elsewhere. Originally from Pittsburgh and currently living in Washington county, Alan has been picking his mandolin in bands in Colorado, Pennsylvania, Michigan and now in upstate New York for 30+ years.
Ed Lowman's rock-solid bass and down-home fiddling are known throughout the North Country and New England. He has been seen on the Caffe stage since the '70s with Quickstep and Don & Victoria Armstrong. He has organized and played for countless contra and square dances.
Capital District native Jason Weinstein got the bluegrass bug as a teenager and taught himself to flatpick on the guitar and sing bluegrass. Following some years in Vermont and Northern California, Jason now lives in Washington county, pickin', singin' and cultivating an appreciation for music in his nine month-old son.
