If you have the blues, play the blues, or love the blues we got you covered! Caffè Lena and The Saratoga Acoustic Blues Society team up to present a monthly acoustic blues open mic. Bring your acoustic guitar, harps, slides, mandolin, bass or whatever (Lena's has the piano) and sign up for a slot to play solo, as a duo, ensemble or even have players in the room join you on stage.
Acoustic Blues Open Mic is held on the 4th Wednesday of the month and is hosted by Sonny Speed. Sign up is 7 pm. Names are pulled out of a lottery at 7:30. A monthly featured act opens up and the open mic follows 8 PM.
After supporting herself as a professional musician in her younger years, Long Island native Mary Ann Casale is back on stage following a three decade hiatus. Her 2014 jazz and blues-influenced album, Running Out of Time, put her back on the airwaves and stages near her current home on New York-Canada border. Her follow up album, Restless Heart, is slated for release this month.
Tas Cru, a French-Canadian nom d'estage that roughly translates to "Raw Potato," is a nationally known blues musician. Downbeat magazine notes, "His songs are blues poetry - crafted with rare verbal flair and his ability to cast a memorable hook is magical!" Living Blues magazine says, "The vivacity and sheer joy with which Cru plays is intoxicating!" His current album, You Keep the Money, was either at or near the very top of every major blues chart throughout most of the year. In addition to appearing regularly at festivals and major blues venues throughout the US and Canada, Tas brings his award-winning Blues Education programs and workshops to numerous schools, hospitals and community centers. Tas Cru was recognized by the Blues Foundation in Memphis, Tennessee in 2014 as recipient for Keeping the Blues Alive.
