Margarita and Carne Asada with Nopal Salad Cooking Class at El Centro de la Raza
El Centro de la Raza (The Center for People of All Races) has now partnered with El Quetzal Mexican Restaurant to offer a Margarita and Carne Asada Nopal Salad cooking class! Learn how to cook our favorite dishes share in our culture, in our favorite drinks and meet new people all at the same time! Class fees benefit our Senior Nutrition & Wellness Program.

Maragarita and Carne Asada with Nopal Salad Class: "ENSALADA DE NOPAL" BELIEVE IT OR NOT, CACTUS IS NOT ONLY EDIBLE, IT IS DELICIOUS. Prickly pear cactus salad-ensalada de nopal- is eaten throughout Mexico. It is typically served as a side dish or greatly paired with carne asada. Everything needed for make the salad: cactus, tomatoes, onion, cilantro, and carne asada. Nopales are used in several mexican dishes and has been known to be used for generations as far as the Aztecs. After you finish cooking up your-ensalada de nopales-you can wash it down with a Margarita made from scratch! In its classic form Margarita is made with tequila, lime juice and Cointreau or Triple Sec, served in a glass with a salted rim-it is a perfect combination of sweet, salty, sour and bitter.
