THE PAPER DAYS:
The Paper Days are a contemporary folk band based in Minneapolis. The band's material draws on influences from folk, rock and pop. Four part harmonies, accordion melodies and innovative songwriting deliver intimate, moving music. Since forming in 2013, The Paper Days have been busy writing, performing and recording. The Band's first EP, "Northern Sky", was recorded in early 2014 and released at the Aster Café. The title track has been aired on KFAI Radio and SianeNet Internet Radio. In December 2014, the band headlined a show at the historic 7th St Entry. More recently, The Paper Days brewed the "Paper Days Pale Ale" in collaboration with Day Block Brewing.
The upcoming album from The Paper Days was recorded at The Library, where artists such as Jeremy Messersmith, John Mark Nelson and The Pines have all worked. Produced by Matt Patrick, the album features eight new songs that push the band in a new direction.
THE HEAVY SET:
Born of a residency at famed Winona, Minnesota watering hole and music venue Ed's No Name Bar, The Heavy Set is a roots rock band based out of Minnesota. Founder and lead singer Jake Ilika resides in Minneapolis, while the band is spread across Rochester and Winona, Minnesota. With an EP under their belt and measurable progress made in their short existence, they're poised to release their first full-length album, "Everybody's Got A Mountain" in November of 2015. Engineered and produced by Erik Koskinen (who also plays on the record), the album also features Jillian Rae, Dylan Nau (Apollo Cobra), Siri Undlin (Undlin & Wolfe) and Max "Maxaphone" Felsheim (Root City, Nicolas David).
The band came together at one of Ilika's weekly residency nights at Ed's No Name Bar (Winona, MN) in January of 2013, and by the summer, they were at Winterland and Real Phonic Studios making their debut EP, which garnished praise from local media like The Current, Southern Minnesota Music Scene, and The Noisy Neighbor entertainment blog. The 6 songs on the EP represent their approach to Americana, with down-tempo heartaches of songs, weeping steel guitars and even a heavier and edgier form of rock and roll.
