Laura Cortese & The Dance Cards
Laura Cortese has emerged as one of the most intriguing and versatile musicians in the bountiful New England post-folk scene. Her soulful voice and formidable fiddle groove lead this all-female string group that was brought together by the love of traditional American music.
The electricity of their live shows vibrates from the stage as this quartet goes from hard-driving tunes to heart-breaking songs of Americana deftly and with the sensitivity of players beyond their years.
Laura's highly-visible work has included appearances with Uncle Earl, Michael Franti, Tao Seeger, Band of Horses, Session Americana, and as part of Pete Seeger's 90th birthday celebration at Madison Square Garden. Her most recent studio album Into the Dark is hailed by American Songwriter Magazine as a "fiddle-drenched Americana gem."
