Members of the Saratoga Acoustic Blues Society welcome players of all ages to perform original or traditional blues songs on the Caffe Lena stage. Play solo, or invite others to sit in. A featured performer opens with a 20 minute set, followed by the open mic, then a big group jam. A great night of entertainment whether you perform or just sit and enjoy! Hosted by Sonny Speed.
Tonight's featured artist is musicologist and singer-songwriter Gail Sparlin. Her blues influenced pop songs are colored with her childhood influences of folk, country, and jazz. A northern Minnesota native and a music educator, Gail performs throughout the Capital District. Her most recent projects include an original musical titled Pokegama Hotel and a song cycle based on the writings of Kurt Vonnegut. "Echoes of Joni Mitchell, Tom Waits, J.D. Acoustic Blues Open Mic is held on the 4th Wednesday of the month and is hosted by Sonny Speed. Sign up is 7 pm. Names are pulled out of a lottery at 7:30. A monthly featured act opens up and the open mic follows 8 PM. Admission is $5 at the door.
