Fuzzy Math:
Bandleader Mark Vandermyde is a classically trained pianist and organist who began migrating from Mozart to Miles in middle school, studied music theory and composition at Harvard University, and banged around the Twin Cities blues and jazz scene for several years before launching this project around a bunch of tunes he wrote and hoped people would find interesting and fun. Along the way he managed to latch on to the talents of Andrew Schwandt on sax, Haralds Bondaris on drums and Eric Graham on bass.
"The first album "Fuzzy Math", which KFAI called "a great little CD", was released in 2012, and they are now unveiling their follow-up "Pass the Guacamole". Their eclectic brand of original jazz and creative pop covers was named to the StarTribune's Best of MN list in 2012 for "best jazz act for people bored with jazz". Their goal is to make serious music that doesn't take itself too seriously.
