Monica Van Buren is OUT at Club Cafe
Monica Van Buren, Masters in [Show] Business Administration is putting the BUSINESS back in Show Business!
Featuring 'Fresh Fruit' Veteran Pete Gaioni in his solo debut.
Unlike most drag queens who are drowning in Las Vegas-style sequins, feathers and rhinestones, Monica Van Buren is a graduate of Harvard Business School with a sharp intellect and a smart wardrobe. She thinks show business is tacky and wants to make it run more like corporate America. She also happens to be the great-great-great grand-daughter of President Martin Van Buren.
This is a benefit for The Theater Offensive's OUT Run Boston Marathon Team. The Theater Offensive's mission is to form and present the diverse realities of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender lives in art so bold it breaks through personal isolation and political orthodoxy to help build an honest, progressive community.
Team OUT Run the Boston Marathon is running to help The Theater Offensive True Colors: OUT Youth Theater create a safe haven where lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth and their straight allies are supported and challenged to engage fully in their personal, social, and artistic development. True Colors work with at-risk LGBT youth and allies, ages 14 - 22, in the creation of original theater pieces based on personal experiences, including: bullying, homelessness, harassment, discrimination, and suicide. Their work is ground-breaking, life-changing, and often times, life-saving.
