First Pages Workshop

Openings matter. The first pages of your novel will help you secure an agent, win over an editor, and capture the interest of your readers. In this workshop, we will help you strengthen your first ten pages, leaving you with practical and personalized strategies for revision.

Class logistics: Nina LaCour and Kristen Tracy will read your submission before class and both of them will provide you with written feedback and suggestions. You will also be responsible for reading up to five other students' beginnings. Your workshop will be led by either Nina or Kristen in a group of no more than eight students. In addition to receiving written suggestions from your workshop peers, you will also engage in a constructive, structured discussion of each submitted beginning.

Enrollment is limited to sixteen students.

Please note: In order to give everyone enough time to read one another's work, enrollment for this class ends on Wednesday, April 26th and all submissions must be in at that time.
