ROSENWALD
What does Julius Rosenwald, a son of German-Jewish immigrants who helped build Sears, Roebuck, have in common with W.E.B. DuBois, Gordon Parks, Langston Hughes, James Baldwin, and Marian Anderson? Rosenwald's foundation gave each of these prominent African-Americans a fellowship that enabled them to pursue their fields of interest.
The Rosenwald Fellowships are just part of Julius Rosenwald's legacy and accomplishments detailed in Aviva Kempner's newest film, "Rosenwald". The Santa Fe Jewish Film Festival is opening its sixth season on October 3rd with the New Mexico premiere of this acclaimed documentary, with Ms. Kempner ("Yoo Hoo Mrs. Goldberg") in person.
