(ADMISSION IS $5 AT THE DOOR. SIGN UP IN PERSON.)

If you have the blues, play the blues, or love the blues we got you covered! Caffè Lena and The Saratoga Acoustic Blues Society team up to present a monthly acoustic blues open mic.

The night opens with a 20 minute set by Bill Martin. Bill has performed and taught for many years in the region, specializing in classical and folk guitar styles and was the guitar instructor at Skidmore College for many years.  After leaving music to pursue other business interests, he has returned to the guitar. He loves to explore American folk blues music and to write original material using folk and classical idioms.   He has recorded two solo albums to date, "Saints and Sinners" and "A Simple Song."  Bill's most recent project was entitled "The Joy of the Blues" at the Hudson River Music Hall which included members of SABS Sonny Speed and Ray Guiguere among others. Bill was trained as a trumpeter with a Master of Music Degree from the Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor's Degree from the Cleveland Institute of music. He was a member of the United States Army Band in Washington, D.C. and performed with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.

Bring your acoustic guitar, harps, slides, mandolin, bass or whatever (Lena's has the piano) and sign up for a slot to play solo, as a duo, ensemble or even have players in the room join you on stage.

Acoustic Blues Open Mic is held on the 4th Wednesday of the month and is hosted by Sonny Speed. Sign up is 7 pm. Names are pulled out of a lottery at 7:30. A monthly featured act opens up and the open mic follows 8 PM. Admission is $5 at the door.
