An evening of devotional Sufi music and poetry, prayer, movement, and blessing in support of the Duwamish Tribe.  The Mevlevi Order of America invites you to a healing moment.

Where:  Duwamish Longhouse, 4705 W. Marginal Way SW, Seattle, WA 98106, 206-431-1582

The intention of this evening is to offer spiritual support for the Duwamish tribe, the original inhabitants of what is now the city of Seattle. Recently the tribe was denied federal recognition, which prevents them from receiving the health, education, and economic support that they are due. This denial of their existence is harmful on many levels, and we join in their prayers for acknowledgement and restitution.

The evening is fully participatory. There is no separation between guest, witness, presenter, reciter, or musician. Together we create a Healing moment, to benefit all those in need, everywhere, throughout time. We call this Ayin I Cem, a spiritual ceremony utilizing music and the whirling prayer meditation practiced by those who follow the path of Love in the spiritual lineage of the Sufi mystic and poet known as Rumi.

All are welcome. If you need further background: rumiseattle.org
