Fixing Mistakes: How to Revise Before Submitting
Writing a novel requires both polishing and heavy lifting. This class will focus on strategies for revision for the overall manuscript and for individual scenes. We'll investigate common missteps in the drafting process and help you figure out ways to evaluate your own work.
We have two guests for this class: Julie Romeis, Editor at Chronicle Books, and Katie Williams, author of the highly regarded novel The Space Between Trees. Julie will describe what level of polish she expects in a manuscript and Katie will talk about how she revised before submitting her manuscript. Together, Julie and Katie will tell us about their experience working together as editor and author through the revision process.
