Resonance
Immerse yourself in the resplendent ambience of the cathedral, as the voices of Seattle Pro Musica perform in surround sound, creating an unparalleled aural experience. The concert features the rarely-performed Spem in Alium, Thomas Tallis' famous motet for 40 individual voices in eight choirs positioned around the audience. Resonance will also feature the world premiere of I Sing of Love by British composer Bernard Hughes, on Islamic, Jewish and Christian texts, commissioned by Seattle Pro Musica. Also on the program are stunning works for multiple choirs by Gabrieli and Tavener, as well as the beloved Ave Maria for men's choir by Franz Biebl.
As part of our expanding Education and Outreach program, we welcome the top performing choirs from the Northwest Girlchoir, Seattle Girls' Choir, and Jubilate! of St. James Cathedral. Each choir will perform individually, and join with Seattle Pro Musica to perform Gustav Holst's Ave Maria for 8-part women's choir.
Furthermore, as a part of the exciting world premiere by Bernard Hughes, I Sing of Love, Mr. Hughes will give a pre-concert lecture on Saturday, May 19th, 7pm, at the St. James Pastoral Outreach Center, located south of the Cathedral at 9th and Columbia.
Saturday, May 19, 2012 and Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 8:00 St. James Cathedral 9th & Marion, Seattle
