Bay Area Composers Big Band
The Bay Area Composers Big Band
The Bay Area Composers Big Band, made up of composers from different backgrounds and experiences, draws on the influences of jazz, funk, latin music, hip-hop, electronica, classical and avante-garde music to create a diverse array of styles. The band has only been around for two years, but in that short amount of time has already played at the Hillside Club, been featured on KCSMâs âIn The Momentâ with Jim Bennett, played to a sold-out audience at Annaâs Jazz Island in Berkeley and headlined the Whale and Jazz Festival in Gualala.
"With solid brass sections â" four trumpets, four trombones, and a great blending of reeds with two alto, two tenor and a baritone sax, plus flute and clarinets â" the live sound of a big band blew the roof off the Gualala Arts Center. In the eight years of the Redwood Coast Whale & Jazz Festival, it would be hard to top this concert."- Independent Coast Observer, April 23, 2010
