"This indie orchestra gives classical music a jolt of energy," - Spin Magazine
Oregon's Portland Cello Project (or, PCP, as their fans affectionately call them), amazes audiences with extravagant performances everywhere from NPR's A Prairie Home Companion, to parties on loading docks in NYC, to symphony halls, to punk rock clubs. The "group of cello-wielding maniacs" (Spacelab Magazine) has built a reputation for erasing musical barriers wherever they go. With a repertoire now numbering over 1,000 pieces, no two shows are alike. They have collaborated with a diverse assortment of musicians, from high school and university music programs, to the Dandy Warhols to Garrison Keillor to Trampled by Turtles to Ben Sollee, just to name a few. "If you could see how crazy everyone around here gets whenever the PCP cello-izes a new hip-hop or pop hit (which is a lot), you'd understand why their Thing is the best Thing going in Portland," - IFC's Portlandia Blog
