July 2010 Membership Lunch Program
Join City of Santa Rosa Chief Building Official Michael Whitaker to learn about the building code adoption process now in progress for the 2010 California Building Code. The new CA codes, to be published in early July, will include mandatory requirement for green building (CALGreen) and offer a laundry list of voluntary measures that can be adopted as amendments. A brief summary of CALGreen with a comparison to Build It Green and LEED point rated certification programs will be presented. Mr. Whitaker will discuss the impacts of CALGreen to local jurisdiction and review the green building program options available for local jurisdictions.
Who Should Attend: Architects, engineers, contractors, Code Officials, CAD managers, designers and drafters.
About the Presenter: Michael Whitaker has been the Chief Building Official at the City of Santa Rosa since April of 2005. Formerly the assistant building official at the County of San Luis Obispo, Mr. Whitaker has over 20 years experience in code compliance that includes extensive experience as a plan checker, inspector, and code enforcement prior to his management positions. He has a MA degree in Economics from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and a BS from Cal Poly, SLO. Mr Whitaker has numerous code certifications and is a Build It Green Accredited Professional.
