Saori Chiba, the "brilliant Japanese pianist", according to the Chicago Daily Herald, is a native of Tokyo, Japan. Chiba is a recipient of numerous award and accolades for her superb keyboard artistry. From her five current recordings, two have captured the Daily Herald's coveted Top Ten Classical CD of the Year honors in 2003 and 2004, respectively, while a third disc was selected to the Grammy Award Entry List for Best Chamber Music Performance.
Ms. Chiba also works actively with singers and her vocal master class credentials include associations with Dalton Baldwin, Martin Katz, David Schrader and Denyce Graves. Moreover, she has collaborated with the Ravinia Festival, conductor Christoph Eschenbach and violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg. Ms. Chiba also frequently accompanies for Chicago Opera Theater and is mid-West coordinator for Opera Santa Barbara.
An eclectic artist, Michael McElvain is an active pianist, conductor, and composer/arranger. Recent performances include a live solo piano broadcast on WFMT, and Schubertiade Chicago. Michael holds a B.M. in Piano Performance from Webster University, where he was featured as a concerto soloist, and an M.M. in Piano Performance from DePaul University. His piano instructors include Aglika Angelova, Annie Sherter, and Daniel Schene, and he has performed in masterclasses for Leon Fleisher, Emanuel Ax, Noël Lee, and Martin Katz. Beyond classical music, Michael has toured Europe as keyboardist for the progressive rock band Pavlov's Dog. As conductor, he has served as Chorus Master for Chicago Bach Ensemble, led concerts of opera choruses throughout Italy's Marche and Umbria regions for the summer opera festival Musica nelle Marche.
