Duo-Organ Recital
Sunday, May 30, 2:00 PM

Two of Chicago's finest young upcoming organists join forces to present a program of works for two organs and music for four hands and four feet at one organ. St. John Cantius' own Br. Jonathan Ryan, SJC, winner of the First Prize and Letourneau Prize in the 2009 Jordan II International Organ Competition, will perform with Nathan Laube, a rising star becoming a demanded organ recitalist who practiced at St. John Cantius Church while a high school student at the Chicago Academy for the Arts (in the old St. John Cantius School building).

The 75-minute program will feature both the Upper and Lower West Balcony organs in the splendid acoustics of St. John Cantius with music for two organs by the brilliant Italian Baroque Bernardo Pasquini, the great master J.S. Bach, and American composer Calvin Hampton, solo organ selections by the great French symphonists Charles-Marie Widor and Louis Vierne, and music for two organists at one organ by Gustav Holst. Solemn Vespers and Benediction will follow the recital in the church.
