Diwan Saz: Harmony in the Holy Land
An exciting Israeli ensemble performing traditional Middle Eastern music from many traditions. Featuring Rabbi David Menachem, a rising star in the revival of piyyutim in Israel; Lubna Saleme featured vocalist with Nazareth Orchestra; and Mohammed Gaddir, a 14-year-old Bedouin singer.
Using traditional acoustic instruments such as the saz and baglama, this multicultural group of seven musicians perform ancient music from Central Asia, Turkey, Persia, and the Holy Land - - promoting peace and understanding through their music. Their 'Harmony in the Holy Land' concerts incorporate melodies and texts of the the diverse musical heritages found in Israel.
This event is made possible with the generous support of Temple Shalom and The Israeli Consulate of New England.
