Please note: Payment for Auxiliary Keelboat confirms your spot in the class and that you have read and understand Chicago Sailing's cancellation policy. The policy can be reviewed at the bottom of this page or you can discuss it by calling 773-871-7245.
This 9-hour, on-the-water course expands upon the coursework of BASIC SAILING 101 and Advanced Sailing 161. Besides learning the nuances of big boat handling you will acquire new skills, enabling you to daysail a cruising vessel with safety and confidence.
At the end of this course successful graduates will be qualified to skipper a J30 or comparable cruising auxiliary sailboat.. Moreover, you will have the confidence it takes to venture further offshore. Who knows what would be next in your lifetime of adventure? Besides being the first step toward US SAILING's cruising certifications, this course is a natural path to bareboat chartering at some exotic location.
We offer two schedule options for Auxiliary Keelboat 301. Weekends are morning sessions Saturday/Sunday of one weekend, 8 am - 12:30 pm. Weekday sessions run 5:30 - 8:30 pm, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday of one week.
