Vashon Island Garden Tour
Please join us for the 20th Annual Vashon Island Garden Tour Saturday June 26 and Sunday June 27, beginning with Pre-Tour events on Friday June 25. Avid gardeners can enjoy Garden Connoisseurs, an afternoon of getting to know two beautiful gardens and their histories. Learn garden tips and enjoy light refreshments at the gardens of Sylvia Matlock and Ross Johnson, and Saphire Blue and Gordon Smith. Space is limited for this event, which runs from 1 pm to 4 pm Tickets are $45 per person, or $60 per person including a weekend Garden Tour ticket.
Attend the Sunset Garden Gala on Friday evening from 6 pm until sunset and celebrate summer at Dick and Pam Driscoll's garden paradise. Enjoy cocktails, a gourmet dinner and live entertainment overlooking beautiful Dockton harbor. Gala tickets are $125 per person and are limited.
Saturday and Sunday, five gardeners will graciously open their artful gardens from 10 am to 5 pm. This year's featured gardens offer a diverse selection with several things in common. Each has been a labor of love, each is an expression of the gardeners unique vision and creativity and each has been created by the gardeners themselves. Enjoy the park-like setting of Jonathan Morse's five distinct garden rooms. Delight in how Colleen and John James transformed a bare sloping yard in just five years with exotic foliage, texture and bold contrasts of color. Visit Sherene Zolno and Rick Skillman's serene hillside garden and stroll their meditation path. See how Greg Elliott turned his property, once overwhelmed by blackberries, into an inviting outdoor living space. Explore Kay White's expansive garden featuring a myriad of perennials. Many of the gardens will feature music and art for sale. Tour tickets are $25 per person and are valid both days. Tickets are only $20 per person through May 31 and include seminars. Attend Sylvia Matlock's seminar on Planting Roofs and Living walls from 10 am to 11 am, Saturday and Sunday at DIG Floral and Garden, or hear Greg Rabourn, a regular contributor to KUOWs Weekday program talk about native plants at the Blue Heron Saturday, 1 pm to 2 pm
