Seattle Premiere of Indie Rock Fable FLY BY NIGHT
Reboot Theatre Company follows its inaugural production, the award-winning all-female 1776, with the Seattle premiere of the Off-Broadway musical FLY BY NIGHT. This acclaimed indie rock musical by Will Connolly, Michael Mitnick and Kim Rosenstock tells the darkly comic story of two entrancing sisters and a hapless sandwich maker who embark on adventure and romance during the legendary citywide blackout of New York in 1965.
Rosenstock's Tigers Be Still was named one of The New York Times' Top Ten Plays of 2010, and this musical is the winner of an Edgerton Foundation New American Plays Award as well as an alum of the prestigious Playwrights Horizons program. A highly original work by three prolific young writers, this whimsical production shows that sometimes you need a blackout to see the light.
Conceived by Kim Rosenstock Written by Will Connolly, Michael Mitnick, and Kim Rosenstock Directed by Harry Turpin Music direction by Joel Kurzynski
"The most paradoxical of musicals -- hilarious and bittersweet, deeply immersed in tradition, but utterly original." -Dallas News
"Tuneful and evocative." -The San Francisco Chronicle
"FLY BY NIGHT will enchant audiences...Romance doesn't come any sweeter. Its unabashed emotionalism could turn it into more than a hit. It could turn it into a cult phenomenon" -NY Post
Reboot Theatre Company is committed to testing new interpretations of established works though nontraditional casting, staging, and methods yet to be discovered.
