The Vancouver International Burlesque Festival is Canada's most prestigious and longest-running burlesque festival. Showcasing the finest local and international talent since 2006, the VIBF brings global talent and local superstars to downtown Vancouver every spring.
Our City has a rich history of burlesque and cabaret dating back to the Golden Age of Burlesque. Entertainment reporter Jack Wasserman said of our 1940s cabaret scene:
"Vancouver erupted as the vaudeville capital of Canada, rivaling and outstripping Montreal in the east and San Francisco in the south as one of the few places where the brightest of the nightclub era could be glimpsed from behind a post, through a smoke filled room, over the heads of $20 tippers at ringside."
Vancouver has honoured this colourful history by becoming recognized all over the world as a powerhouse of talent and innovation. The Vancouver International Burlesque Festival was founded in 2006 aiming to showcase this talent, exposing Vancouver audiences to the very best of burlesque. Over a decade later, this project has grown into a world-class annual cabaret experience. Each year we produce two showcase events, highlighting many of the world's most sought-after burlesque performers alongside Legends from the Golden Age of Burlesque and the best of Vancouver's glitterati.
Join us for VIBF 2017 at The Vancouver Playhouse, Friday March 31 and Saturday April 1, to experience the magic of modern striptease for yourself!
From the Golden Age to the Playhouse stage: Vancouver is Burlesque.
