Leonardo of Pisa, better known as Fibonacci, may not have discovered the number series with which his name has become synonymous, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he made complex mathematics understandable to ordinary people in a way no other thinking had done before.

Keith Devlin, a mathematician and author, dedicated years of study to searching for the true story of who Fibonacci really was. Along the way, he met an unforgettable cast of characters. From the Yale professor who traced modern finance back to Fibonacci to the Italian historian who made the crucial find that tied together all of the threads in Fibonacci's story, Devlin reveals the highs and lows of his search for the elusive mathematician.

Dr. Keith Devlin is a co-founder and Executive Director of the university's H-STAR institute, a co-founder of the Stanford Media X research network, and a Senior Researcher at CSLI. He is a World Economic Forum Fellow, a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society. His current research is focused on the use of different media to teach and communicate mathematics to diverse audiences.

Don't miss the chance to meet NPR's "Math Guy" for an evening on Finding Fibonacci.
