Sponsored by Kepler's Literary Foundation
Friday, February 10, 2017 7:00 p.m.
Kepler's Books 1010 El Camino Real Menlo Park, CA 94025
Join us to hear four authors discuss why LGBTQ fiction is still considered niche.
Kristin Elizabeth Clark, author of "Jess, Chunk, and the Roadtrip to Infinity" and "Freakboy," writes, teaches workshops, and speaks on panels about social justice, diversity, and writing for children and young adults. She's also the host and founder of The Ocean Beach Poet's Society
Tim Floreen, author of "Willful Machines" and "Tattoo Atlas," majored in English at Yale, worked as an assistant accountant on the crew of the film Titanic, became a yoga teacher, got punched in the face while a contestant on The Price Is Right, once actually shook Lynda Carter's hand, then went back to school to earn a masters degree in creative writing at Boston University.
MG Hennessey, author of "The Other Boy," loves Star Wars, the San Francisco Giants, strawberry ice cream and dancing. She's a supporter of the Transgender Law Center, Gender Spectrum, and the Human Rights Campaign.
Brie Spangler, author of "Beast" (named one of Publishers Weekly Best of 2016), is an author-illustrator originally from the Boston area who loves clambakes and baseball. When not drawing pictures or writing words, she can be found avoiding direct sunlight (which is very hard to do in California, but challenge accepted) and drinking too much coffee.
