Madrid Ballpark Folk and Blues Fest - Sunday, July10
Sunday, July 10th -- a day of music, fun and celebration in the unique and wonderful town of Madrid, New Mexico. Enjoy a great afternoon at Madrids historic Ballpark at this home-grown music festival featuring the best music from New Mexico and beyond. Join us for the Madrid Ballpark Folk and Blues Fest!
Headlining the Festival for 2106 is the incomparable Hot Tuna! From their days playing together as teenagers, through their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band, Jefferson Airplane, to their current acoustic and electric blues, no one has more consistently led American music for the last 50 years than Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady, the founders and continuing core members of Hot Tuna. The Grammy Lifetime Achievement honorees are bringing their electric Hot Tuna power trio to Madrid for the first time. Founded back in 1968 as a side project of the Jefferson Airplane, Jorma and Jack's Hot Tuna has been wow-ing audiences for decades. A truly legendary, exceptional band.
Supporting Hot Tuna is the groundbreaking New Mexico musical legend, The Family Lotus. Founded back in 1968, they are one of the original creators of psycho-grass. This 7-piece band is as tight today as ever. If youve never seen them, this Madrid and Santa Fe favorite will show you what New Mexico music is all about. It's a rare event when we get treated to a reunion of The Family Lotus -- so catch them while you can.
Opening the festival is the Boris McCutcheon and the Salt Licks! Boris McCutcheon is a singer and award-winning songwriter of truly unique and engaging Americana songs. He plays guitar, harmonica, and mandolin, and he is backed by an incredible band of musicians known as The Salt Licks. Once you hear his music, you will wonder how you ever got along without it!
There will be great food from the Mine Shaft Tavern, artists, vendors and more throughout the Festival. The gates open at 2pm. Rain or Shine. Join us for some great music and help us celebrate all that is Madrid, NM and its restored historic ballpark!
